Verifying identity and purity

High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) separates a sample's components and lets you estimate purity, usually expressed as a percentage.

Mass spectrometry (MS) confirms identity by measuring the molecular mass, compared with the sequence's theoretical value.

The certificate of analysis (CoA)

A CoA gathers a batch's analytical results: identity, HPLC purity, MS data, appearance, and often the lot number and date.

It is the reference document that accompanies a research compound and ensures its traceability.

Storage and handling

Peptides are often lyophilised and kept cold; the cold chain and careful handling preserve the compound's integrity.

These good practices are part of a laboratory's quality process, within a strictly research context.
